AARBAA West Virginia files comment on cycling conduct along US-19 near the New River Gorge, the Highland Scenic Highway (WV-150), and the Greenbrier River Trail, and petitions the West Virginia Division of Highways for enforcement review. Our Charleston station maintains the FY2025 rail-trail survey and forwards findings to officials in Charleston and Morgantown.
Our West Virginia chapter currently has 178 dedicated members across 2 local chapters. We're one of the active state chapters in the national AARBAA network, and our membership continues to grow as more West Virginia residents recognize the need for safer roads and accountability in cycling infrastructure planning.
West Virginia's caseload concentrates on the Greenbrier River Trail trestles, the US-19 shoulder near the New River Gorge, and the Highland Scenic Highway switchbacks on WV-150, where the Charleston station recorded 2.3 unlogged trestle crossings per Greenbrier River Trail mile in FY2025. Autumn leaf cover on the WV-150 shoulder remains under review.
Our closed files include the Greenbrier River Trail Trestle Advisory of 2024 and the Highland Scenic Highway shoulder review on WV-150. Both are held under Records Retention Schedule 7 and available at the public counter on Form AAR-101.
The West Virginia chapter holds regular meetings on the second Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM. Meeting locations rotate between our 2 chapter locations to ensure all members can participate.
