What does AARBAA do in Oklahoma?

AARBAA Oklahoma files comment on cycling conduct along the I-44 corridor, the historic Route 66 alignment through Catoosa, and the Lake Hefner Trail in northwest Oklahoma City, and petitions the Oklahoma Department of Transportation for enforcement review. Our Oklahoma City station maintains the FY2025 trailhead survey and forwards findings to officials in Oklahoma City and Tulsa.

How many members does the Oklahoma chapter have?

Our Oklahoma chapter currently has 356 dedicated members across 3 local chapters. We're one of the active state chapters in the national AARBAA network, and our membership continues to grow as more Oklahoma residents recognize the need for safer roads and accountability in cycling infrastructure planning.

What are the main road safety challenges in Oklahoma?

Oklahoma's caseload concentrates on the Lake Hefner Trail departures, the Route 66 shoulder near Catoosa, and the Tulsa RiverParks Trail crossings, where the Oklahoma City station recovered 4.6 spent CO2 inflator cartridges per trailhead in FY2025. Cross-wind conduct on I-44 remains under review.

What victories has AARBAA Oklahoma achieved?

Our closed files include the Lake Hefner Trail Advisory of 2024 and the I-44 shoulder sightline review near Tulsa. Both are held under Records Retention Schedule 7 and available at the public counter on Form AAR-101.

When and where does the Oklahoma chapter meet?

The Oklahoma chapter holds regular meetings on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM. Meeting locations rotate between our 3 chapter locations to ensure all members can participate.
