AARBAA Illinois coordinates six chapters filing comment on cycling conduct along the Chicago Lakefront Trail, DuSable Lake Shore Drive, the Illinois Prairie Path, and the 606, and petitions the Illinois Department of Transportation for enforcement review. Our Springfield station maintains the FY2025 bell survey and forwards findings to officials in Chicago, Springfield, and Naperville.
Our Illinois chapter currently has 1,247 dedicated members across 6 local chapters. We're one of the active state chapters in the national AARBAA network, and our membership continues to grow as more Illinois residents recognize the need for safer roads and accountability in cycling infrastructure planning.
Illinois's caseload concentrates on the Chicago Lakefront Trail, where the Springfield station recorded 8.3 unrung warning bells per mile in FY2025, along with the Illinois Prairie Path crossings in Wheaton and the DuSable Lake Shore Drive merges. Winter lakefront wind conditions near Oak Street Beach remain under review.
Our closed files include the Lake Shore Drive Merge Advisory of 2024 and the Sheridan Road sightline review. Both are held under Records Retention Schedule 7 and available at the public counter on Form AAR-101.
The Illinois chapter holds regular meetings on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM. Meeting locations rotate between our 6 chapter locations to ensure all members can participate.
