AARBAA Maine enters public comment on cycling conduct along U.S. Route 1 and the I-95 corridor, the Acadia Park Loop Road, and the Back Cove Trail in Portland, and petitions the Maine Department of Transportation for enforcement review. Our Augusta station forwards its FY2025 findings to officials in Portland, Bangor, and Augusta.
Our Maine chapter currently has 187 dedicated members across 2 local chapters. We're one of the active state chapters in the national AARBAA network, and our membership continues to grow as more Maine residents recognize the need for safer roads and accountability in cycling infrastructure planning.
Maine's caseload concentrates on the Acadia Park Loop Road, where the Augusta station recorded 1.6 unscheduled photo-stops per scenic overlook in the FY2025 summer count, the US-1 shoulder through Wiscasset, and the Eastern Trail crossings near Saco. Black-ice conduct on the Kennebec River Rail Trail remains under review.
Our closed files include the Acadia Park Loop Road Advisory of 2024 and the Baxter Boulevard sightline review in Portland. Both are held under Records Retention Schedule 7 and available at the public counter on Form AAR-101.
The Maine chapter holds regular meetings on the second Thursday of each month at 7:00 PM. Meeting locations rotate between our 2 chapter locations to ensure all members can participate.
