AARBAA Washington files comment on cycling conduct along the Burke-Gilman Trail in Seattle, Chuckanut Drive (SR-11) near Bellingham, and US-2 over Stevens Pass, and petitions the Washington State Department of Transportation for enforcement review. Our Olympia station maintains the FY2025 wet-season survey and forwards findings to officials in Seattle, Tacoma, and Spokane.
Our Washington chapter currently has 923 dedicated members across 5 local chapters. We're one of the active state chapters in the national AARBAA network, and our membership continues to grow as more Washington residents recognize the need for safer roads and accountability in cycling infrastructure planning.
Washington's caseload concentrates on the Burke-Gilman Trail in Seattle, the Chuckanut Drive shoulder near Bellingham, and the US-2 climb lanes over Stevens Pass, where the Olympia station recorded 5.1 fender-spray complaints per rainy trail-mile on the Burke-Gilman in FY2025. Winter shoulder conditions on Lake Washington Boulevard remain under review.
Our closed files include the Burke-Gilman Spray Advisory of 2024 and the Chuckanut Drive sightline review near Bellingham. Both are held under Records Retention Schedule 7 and available at the public counter on Form AAR-101.
The Washington chapter holds regular meetings on the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM. Meeting locations rotate between our 5 chapter locations to ensure all members can participate.
